Western Digital’s Livewire Networking over AC Outlet!

Friday, August 27th, 2010

You can create networks now using your AC outlet. Tuesday hard drive manufacturer Western Digital (WD) revealed the WD Livewire Powerline AV Network Kit, a setup that establishes a home network using electrical outlets, and could eliminate the need to string Ethernet cables throughout the home or office. This solution could also boost network reliability in areas outside a wireless router’s range.

New Computer Worm… Beware !!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computers on the network) and it may do so without any user intervention. (from wikipedia)

But this is a whole new aspect of computer worms, check out this story:

Healthy Pancackes Recipie?

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I was searching the web for a pancake recipe, and I was surprised to find no standard recipe for pancakes, everyone seems to have a “wonder” recipe that he/she likes the most.

I looked at many of these recipes and after finding the common things between them (And also after testing around) I have concluded a “standard” in making pancakes, at least it is what I call it anyways :).

The reason as why I call it healthy is that there’s no butter in it, you can add it, but I decided not to, and you don’t have to add oil to the frying pan or anything you use to make pancakes, a healthy standard is the goal here, remember?

Anyways here’s the recipe, and as an engineer I can call this a massively scalable and parallel recipe :) (i.e if you increase the flour by 50% increase all other components by 50% you get the point, also I will add example below).

Creative Zen Stone Plus

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I was thinking of buying an mp3 player 2 years ago, and the apple ipod shuffle was the trend at the time, I winded up buying a Zen Stone Plus. I don’t know why people like the ipod, maybe the looks?, but the creative zen stone plus I got is prettier AND cheaper in my opinion, thats for the looks part.

Lets go to the damn convenience part, and the “MAIN” reason why I chose the Zen Stone Plus over the iPod shuffle, that is how to get your mp3 files to your mp3 player:

  • Using the Zen Stone: Just plug it in using its nice cable, and it will act as a mass storage device, simply drag and drop your mp3 (and many other formats) files and listen !, you can organize your music in folders.
  • Using the iPod shuffle: My brother got one, you can get files on your iPod only using iTunes, it might be a good piece of software, but for me, I didn’t like it. Having to install software to get a very simple task done is a bad thing so to speek, like installing a program to use the mouse double click (am I overacting here :) ).

Back to the Stone Plus, you can choose what to play thanks to the small screen in this model (the Plus in the name goes for the screen). You can use it as a flash memory for your other files too. It can work for up to 9 hours and record that much, also includes radio. What can I say more. Simply: I like it.
